Book Review and Upcoming Movie Update

Yes, I know, I just did a movie review last week and now I'm doing a book review, so live with it! ;-)

After hearing from many people on Mouth House (the coolest group of teens in the world) talk about the book "Eragon" and also seeing posters at my movie theater up advertising for the upcoming movie, I finally decided to read the #1 New York Times Bestseller for myself. Yes, I'm a totally geek. I love fantasy books and I actually managed to finish this one in...about four days. It's great! I even read it instead of watching football on Saturday, *gasp* is it not just soooo totally shocking! ;-p

Anyways, I'm not going to sum up the plot, because you can just read it for yourselves. But, I will give you a little insentive. "Eragon" is a lovely depicted fantasy about a farm boy descovering a dragon and being thrown into the middle of the adventure of a liftime. It's kind of like "Wheel of Time" meets "Lord of the Rings." I know what your thinking, "great another one of those want to be Tolkien's. But, hold your judgement until after you read the book. Christopher Paolini, sucessfully came up with his own fantasy story that is breaking new ground in the genre full of some of the greatest writers of all time. He has developed some great characters and his new twist on dragons is very interesting.

Well dang...I guess I can copy the back of the book down for you so you can at least know a bit more about it:

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledging dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.

Overall, I thought it was a great book, and if you haven't read it yet, go read it, now!!!!

Now...on to my movie update!

Eragon the movie comes out December 15th! I can't wait to see it. It's staring Edward Speleers, Sienna Guillory, Garret Hedlund, and Jeremy Irons. So, now you have even more insentive to read the book, right now...you have to read it before you see the movie!

Why are you still reading this? Aren't you going to the bookstore yet?

VAMOS!!!! ;-p

Movie Review

So, I finally got to see a movie this past week, which I've been waiting forever to see. "Covenant" came out a couple of weeks ago, so maybe a few of you have seen it already. I actually kind of liked it, so I thought I might do a movie review for it.

The Covenant stars Steven Strait (as Caleb Danvers), Tayler Kitsch (as Pogue Parry), Toby Hemingway (as Reid Garwin), and Chace Crawford (as Tyler Sims). These four boys make up the the Sons of Ipswitch...and that's about all I can tell you if I don't want to give away the plot. Here's what IMDb has to say about it:

"Plot Outline: Four young men who belong to a supernatural legacy are charged with stopping the evil force they released into the world years earlier. Another great force they must contend with is the jealousy and suspicion that threatens to tear them apart."

I'm learning about the Salem witch trials in American History right now...and I have to say, this movies spin on it (in a new modern light) was kind of fun, and I loved some of the mythological characters they used. The graphics totally rocked, and plot developement was pretty good...I would have liked to have seen them develop some of their characters more (such as Reid Garwin and Tyler Sims, who don't have nearly enough screen time). But you basicly got to know the main people pretty well, without making the movie too long. Also, I found some of the fight scenes kind of drawn out...but really cool. The beginning of the movie was in my mind one of the coolest...you can actually see part of it if you watch the movie trailer.

Overall, it was a good movie, predictable, but good. Oh, and all the hot guys are a total bonus ;-) So, can you guess who my faverite character is? If you can...I'll...email you a free song if you have high speed internet ;-)

Hint: He also said my favorite line in the movie (pardon the language) -
"Harry Potter can kiss my ass."
So true...so true... ;-p

Rock On!!!!!!!!!!!

EVS!!!!

Well, I'm sitting at the computers at the college Library...bored out of my mind. I had spanish this morning, then I went strait to physics, and now I'm waiting to go to physics lab. Anyways, I decided to actually post this pic last night, and if any of you watch Rockstar Supernova, then you totally get it. If not...then have fun trying to figure it out. All I"m going to tell you is that EVS is now the coolest catch phrase ever invented! I think that Toby and Magni should totally get together as The Thunder from Downunder and The Iceman, and form a band called EVS! That would sooooooo totally rock, and I would go to their concert, for sure.

Right now, though, I'm trying to get my dad to take me to the Supernove show when they come to Dallas. That would be so much fun! I think I might just be able to talk him into is as long as Lucas doesn't become their lead singer. ;-)

On another note, at this moment in time I'm actually trying to figure out if I want to have a graduation or not. I've allready thought of all the pro's and con's, but I thought I would get other people opoinons. So if you have any thoughts on how important a highschool graduation really is, let me know! Actually I'm trying to talk my dad into taking me to England instead of paying for a graduation...I think it sounds so much neater! I also think I would remember it more fondly.

So give me your feed back! and allways remember EVS!!!!!!!!!

Friday Quote of the Day

I've decided that every Friday I'm going to post some words from the great Martin Luther...most of them will come for "Day by Day We Magnify Thee" (published at one time by Fortress Press), but I might put up some others from the Concordia as well...so enjoy!

"He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one judgeth him: the word that I have spoke, the same shall judge him in the last day. John XII. 48.

The dear Lord sees what poor and wretched people we are. Unless we have the treasure of the holy Gospel, on error always trumbles over another.
And again, when we have the Gospel a far more dreadful calamity occurs, namely, that every man despises it, and the few accept it for their betterment. Hence we are thoroughly poor and wretched people. If God withhold His word from us, we cannot live without it, without suffering detriment to our souls. On the other hand, if He grants it, nobody wants it. Hence there is nothing better than that the Lord God should hasten the Last Day, to smite everything into a heap, for the ungrateful world will not be helped either by grave or punishment.
Therefore He admonishes us again and appoints another dat saying: 'Today, if you will hear HIs voice, harden not your hearts'. Behold every day is 'Today!' and God calls and appeals to us not to miss the opportunity.
And it is right for us to thank Gad most deeply for such grace, that He comes so near to us, abides with us, in our homes, at our table, at our bedside and wherever we want HIm, offering and presenting us all His help, and all things which we may ask of Him. Yes, we ought to treasure and honour this dear guest because He stays with us." -- Martin Luther (Sermon on Ephsians v. 15-21) We Magnify Thee page 111.

Pictures from The Feast

Guess what!!! I was just on the Higher Things website looking at pictures from The Feast 2006, and here are a few of the pics I found with me in them:

Busy Once Again!

Well, I'm back from my trip, and I hope to postsome pics up here sooner or later...but in the mean time you'll just have to be happy that I'm atleast posting.

School started last week up at the college, so I've been pretty busy here lately. Also, tomorrow dance classes start, so I'll have even less time to update. This year I"m taking 11 hours up at my local college (which is the most time a high schooler can take at a college for dual credit) so I'm pretty booked. Luckily, I have some good teachers. So, I can't really complain.

Anyways, that's my life, and I hope I'll have time to update more often. TTYL!
